lyrics
SOMOS MIGRANTES SEÑOR
sir, we are migrants
Dreaming of working, without forgetting where we came from
Looking for a better life , we came to this country,
The poorest worker has to work the hardest
We have no rights, sir, we are migrants
We live in a trailer, we barely make rent
Even before the pandemic, every day was a struggle
So few of us have work now, so many of us go hungry
The government and the law offer us no protection
My husband is very sick, he’s weak and can’twalk
Cancer got him, it has ruined all his dreams ,
He has no insurance, I don’t sleep, I lose hope
He who has good money, gets good medical care.
Jobs were already hard to find, now with COVID there are none
They’ve fired nearly everyone, , my dreams are shattered
My daughter is very sad, seeing how we struggle
She’s dying to help, looking for a job herself
We want to work, to change our situation
We are not what they yell at us, nor are we an inferior race
The government that ignores us is blind to how hard we work
The wealth they reap we sowed with our own shoulders
People I’ve never met have shared their bread with me
Other brothers share provisions, money, and sal
Long live our siblings from DIGNIDAD INMIGRANTE
From here in Athens, Georgia, always helping peopl
SOMOS MIGRANTES SEÑOR
Soñando con trabajar, sin olvidar la raíz
buscando vivir mejor llegamos a éste país,
