Lydian Brambila (they/them) writes songs in Athens, Georgia. Their debut album Migraineur (2018) is a sparse collection of meditations on monastic figures, solitude, and the indiscernibility of migraine. They further explore labor, gender, and healing in Ars Apparatus (2019), reflections on technologies of encounter and possibility.
lyrics
STOLEN
STOLEN
From her country she arrived sixteen years ago
Parting ways with her husband six more years ago
So began her labor
For those whose fortunes are stolen, stolen, stolen
She prepared in their kitchens the meals from where she’d come
They plundered her hours, her wages, her memories of the sun
Now comes this wave of death
Filling the net of those who have stolen, stolen, stolen
Ten months ago, her partner became a deportee
As long as our comrades are threatened, none of us are free
Power is not given but taken
United, we take back what was stolen, stolen, stolen
